[openib-general] Mixed 32/64 bit environment issues

Has anyone even thought about systems like amd64 and ppc64 that support
both 32 bit and 64 bit apps intelligently?
I built mellanox vapi (thca-3.2-rc9) on a x86 debian system, and then on
an Opteron running a mixed 32/64 bit debian system
(install instructions are at
)
The 32 bit things like 'vapi start' and 'minism' fail with errors like:
ioctl32(minism:19405): Unknown cmd fd(4) cmd...... etc
Does the current openib release (and the stuff in subversion) deal
with 32 bit syscalls at all? Or has this just been ignored in the openib
stack as well?
Just for comparison, does the intel sourceforge stack (aka IBAL) deal
with this at all?

Somone asked my why I work on this free (http://www.fsf.org/philosophy/)
software stuff and not get a real job. Charles Shultz had the best answer:
"Why do musicians compose symphonies and poets write poems? They do it
because life wouldn't have any meaning for them if they didn't. That's why
I draw cartoons. It's my life." -- Charles Shultz
