Yes, the "infiniband-kernel" package available from openib.org works
on linux-2.6.3 on i386. The build system is not too bad -- you just
drop an drivers/infiniband directory into your kernel, apply a couple
of tiny patches to get kbuild to see the infiniband drivers, and build
your modules as usual.

I'd be happy to help get ppc64 working. Unfortunately I have no
access to G5 hardware right now, but I can at least try to figure out
any problems you run into.
I do have access to a pSeries machine, so I can at least get the tree
to build for ppc64. (There are other problems on pSeries, since the
Mellanox driver doesn't use the PCI DMA API, while such use is
absolutely required on pSeries) Given that the IB HCA is 64-bit PCI
capable, can we get away without using the IOMMU on PPC G5?
